Small Business Marketing Niche
Why do I need a small business
marketing niche?
An incredibly important determinant of whether your business will be
successful, will be to decide on the small business marketing niche
which will be filled by your product or service. Your business needs to
offer something that is distinctive, different, and memorable, which
will draw customers back to you. This is called your small business
marketing niche. Now that you have gained some knowledge of your
competitor’s, you should now define your niche for maximum selling
power.
Generally small business marketing plans usually identify at least
one of three ways in which the business can create thier small business
marketing niche: They usually do this by standing out in terms of:
Quality/innovation,
Price or
Brand
Here is how these elements and several others may help you to
determine your small business marketing niche:
Location
If your business depends upon a steady stream of foot traffic, then
location may create your small business marketing niche. For example, a
small corner store may be so convenient to local neighbor’s, that it may
attract a significant amount of business without feeling like it needs
to compete with the huge, conglomerate superstore, two miles away.
Convenience
Rather then relating to the convenience of location, your small
business marketing niche may be more related to how you deliver your
product or service to your customers. Some companies pick up and drop
off orders, deliver information and services online, offer extended
hours, or maintain detailed customer records so that future purchases
are streamlined.
Service
To establish a small business marketing niche of service, you must
prove that your business is really exceptional at this. Extra touches
make a huge difference, such as providing customized services as a
premium option.
Expertise
Having extensive knowledge and ability in a specialized field is a
very common small business marketing niche strategy.
Exclusivity
Is there anything that you can provide that no one else can or will?
If you can, your small business marketing niche may utilize exclusivity.
If this is the case, you must do everything you can to protect your
exclusive product or service.
Price
Some businesses use price as their small business marketing niche,
but you may find this niche to be one that comes with several problems.
When people are used to making decisions based upon price alone, it is
very hard to persuade them to pay more for better quality or service.
Also, they frequently lack loyalty as they are constantly searching for
a better price.
Identifying the right small business marketing niche may spell the
difference between the success or failure of your business. Get this
right and then move on to the next step of researching your industry.
